Cellulite

Cellulite, namely “lipodystrophy” in medical terms, is orange peel-like appearance in some areas of body as a result of fat accumulation.

This situation is rarely seen in males, but occurs in almost all women, causing serious anxiety. Huge sums of money are spent for the solution of this problem every year. Even some products that have not been scientifically proved to be effective are purchased of no avail.

Cellulite may be regarded as a cosmetic problem at first sight, but medical and psychological aspects are also added in severe cases. Most women take on a struggle to get rid of cellulite in spring months every year by trying new methods and products. There may be short-term recoveries. Sometimes, cellulite returns to its previous form rapidly, which causes unhappiness and despair.

Cellulite is different from adiposity, i.e. “obesity”. Obesity only includes increase of adipose tissue. Cellulite is, however, accompanied by structural disorder in adipose tissue and circulatory system. Hence, the problem cannot be solved only by losing weight.

Cellulite begins with fat accumulation. Accumulated fat squeezes veins and disrupts circulation in time. There occurs liquid accumulation, malnutrition of tissues and lesion. It turns to be a vicious in the course of time. Circulatory disorder exacerbates so as to increase liquid and fat accumulation.

Distortions and deformations begin to appear. It turns out to be a medical disorder rather than an aesthetical problem. Cellulite and obesity cause posture disorders, varicosis, overfatigue, backaches, skin prolapses and chaps.

Cellulite occurs mainly in abdomen, pelvic region, arms and lower limbs. Fat accumulation in tissues causes lymphatic circulatory and nutritional disorders, water retention and deformities.

Diagnosis in Cellulite
It is quite easy to diagnose cellulite. Cellulites are not visible in early periods, but only appear in bumps upon squeezing the skin. Treatment is much easier in this period since the problem can be solved through simple measures.

In more advanced cases, abdomen, pelvic region, arms and lower limbs take on orange peel appearance. While they are soft initially, they turn out to be harder and nodular in the course of time, thus happen to be treated with more difficulty.

Therefore, cellulite can be diagnosed easily. It can be conveniently diagnosed in appearance, or by seeing the bumps on the skin by squeezing with hand.

Cause of Cellulite
Heredity (genetic predisposition), nutritional habits (alcohol, coffee, smoking), pregnancy, posture disorders, circulatory disorders, constipation, hormonal factors and drugs may add to cellulite.

Furthermore, if you pursue a motionless life, or start the gym from time to time and quit soon afterwards, you can hardly imagine a life without cellulites.

Besides, posture disorders, bloodstream and lymphatic diseases may trigger or exacerbate cellulite.

Lesions appear to be soft at the beginning, but they turn out to be harder and nodular in the course of time, thus happen to be treated with more difficulty.

Cellulite and obesity cause posture disorders, varicosis, overfatigue, backaches, skin prolapses and chaps in the course of time.

Cellulite Treatment

The effects of certain cellulite creams are controversial in scientific terms.

Mesotherapy is a method of treatment applied in France for five decades and is very popular in cellulite treatment. Small doses of drugs are injected to problematic areas so as to ensure fat running, circulatory regulation and tissue renewal.

Carboxitheraphy injects CO2 gas subcutaneously to ensure running of fat cells and acceleration of circulation. In addition to decreased cellulite, this treatment enables regional thinning, tissue recovery and tightening.

Massage and instrumental treatments (vacuum, lymph drainage, instruments working on electric currents, ultrasound) also accelerate circulation to destroy fat cells.

Surgical treatments may be preferred in more advanced cases. Liposuction may be applied for those having intense cellulite and desiring to achieve immediate results. Light sporting may be advised to accelerate circulation. For instance, swimming, bicycling and jogging are the most useful sports in the anti-cellulite fight for they regulate circulation and help fat destruction.
